On January 30, 1948, Shimla was stunned to hear the shocking news of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination in Delhi. Immediately, shops and markets were closed, and the entire town plunged into darkness. The Tribune reported: ‘Groups of people in tears were seen standing on the roadside, bemoaning the irreparable loss that India had suffered at this critical stage of history.’ The town observed a three-day mourning period.

सरदार पटेल का पत्र व डॉ परमार के अथक प्रयासों से हिमाचल देश का 18 वाँ राज्य बना ।
हिमालय क्षेत्र में छोटी-छोटी रियासतों में बँटे इस भूभाग को एकत्रित कर हिमाचल का उदय आज़ादी के आठ माह उपरांत 15 अप्रैल 1948 को हुआ। एक नवंबर ,1966 में हिमाचल प्रदेश में पंजाब के पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों के विलय से विशाल हिमाचल बना।तदोपरांत डॉ. यशवंत सिंह परमार के नेतृत्व में राज्य को पूर्ण राज्य का दर्जा दिलवाने के लिए एक संघर्ष आरंभ हुआ । पाँच जुलाई 1965 को कांग्रेस कार्यकारी समिति ने एक प्रस्ताव पास कर प्रदेश को संवैधानिक दर्जा ,लौह पुरुष सरदार बल्लभ भाई पटेल द्वारा 18 मार्च 1948 में लिखें पत्र का हवाला देते हुए पारित किया ,जिसमें सरदार पटेल ने लिखा था की – “अपने अंतिम चरण में जब यह क्षेत्र अपने संसाधनों तथा प्रशासनिक प्रशासनिक तौर पर पूरी तरह से विकसित हो जाएगा तो यह संवैधानिक तौर पर देश के अन्य राज्यों के समान होगा। “ सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल का यह कथन हिमाचल को पूर्ण राज्य का दर्जा दिलाने का आधार बना । वहीं नेहरु-गांधी परिवार की विशेष अनुकंपा ने भी अहम योगदान दिया।

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s Connection with Dalhousie
The nation is celebrating the 129th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose as Parakram Diwas (Day of Courage) to remember Netaji’s indomitable spirit, selfless service, and contributions to India’s Independence.
*Arrest and Release*
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was arrested by British police near Bombay in March 1936 upon his return from Europe. He was detained under anti-terrorism regulations. After detaining him for a few weeks in Yeravda Jail, the British administration took him to Kurseong in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal and interned him in the house of his own brother. The arrest of Netaji in 1936 was widely resented. The issue of vindictive treatment of Bose by the British government was highly condemned throughout the country, and an adjournment motion was brought in the Central Legislative Assembly. The public and political pressure forced British Authorities to release him unconditionally on 17th March 1937.

जमाना बुजुर्गों का हो या राजा या रोबोट का?
हम अपने बुजुर्गों से सुनते आये हैं कि हमारा वक़्त बहुत अच्छा था। बड़ों का कहा पत्थर की लकीर होता था। हम अपने माँ बाप का बहुत ख्याल रखते थे।उनका आदर सम्मान हमारे जीवन का ध्येय होता था। सभी मिलजुल कर रहते थे। खेत या काम से घर लौटकर सबसे पहले अपने माँ-बाप का हालचाल जानते और उनसे पूछते कि बाबूजी आज का दिन कैसा रहा। उन्हें भी इंतज़ार रहता। कभी लेट हो जाते तो उतावले हो जाते। उस वक़्त मोबाइल नहीं था जिस पर सूचना दी जा सकती। आपसी व आस- पड़ोस से संबंध पक्के थे। हॉ ,कुछ ही घरों में लैंडलाइन फ़ोन होते थे। उसकी शान ही अलग होती थी। अधिकांश पड़ोसियों ने उन के नम्बर दिए होते थे अपने अपने जानने वालों को। आज की पीढ़ी को तो पता भी नहीं होगा कि PPनंबर क्या होता है, और इस नंबर को कुछ लोग तो अपने विवाह शादी के कार्ड पर भी छपा देते। इसका पड़ोसी लोग बुरा भी नहीं मानते थे और यहाँ तक कि वक्त-बेवक़्त आकर फ़ोन की सूचना भी दे देते थे। तब फ़ोन भी यदि आवश्यक सूचना हो, तभी आते थे। अतः फ़ोन आने पर सारे घर का परिदृश्य ही बदल जाता था; क्यों आया होगा; किस का होगा; शुभ सन्देश है या अशुभ।

The two inscriptions on the slab inside the Mandap of Baijnath temple in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, are important sources of information that shed light on the glorious history ,culture and heritage of the Trigarta now known as Kangra Valley. Baijnath was originally the name of the temple only, the village in which it is situated being called Kiragrama. The name Baijnath is derived from Vaidyanatha (Lord of physicians, Shiva).
